State Finals
If we earn two wins during sectionals, we'll qualify for the state tournament, the chess team attends one of the world's largest team tournament in Peoria Illinois.
The trip requires two overnight stays and players will miss classes for a day and a half. Please mark the dates on your calendar. We will leave Thursday in the afternoon and return late Saturday night. The state will not let our team compete if we don’t have the minimum number of players, so it’s important that all players on the team commit to attending the tournament.
Except lunches, there will be no tournament fees or other costs for the students who attend state. Hotel stay will be covered, and the hotel provides a free continental breakfast. Dinner on Thursday and Friday will be covered by Chess Club as well. Players only need about $25 to cover lunch both days. A little spending cash would be recommended in case the players want extra snacks, but isn’t required.
The van ride over is a tight fit, so players need to pack lightly.
Once the tournament begins, tournament results can be viewed on the IHSA Chess page.
